A couple of things;

1. You stated your skin was blotchy prior to tanning and when you tan it is a blotchy tan.

2. Everything is blotchy except for your face.

Sounds like it has NOTHING to do with the sun based on those two remarks. Your face is the number ONE thing exposed to the sun daily and you have no blotches there but you are blotchy in areas that are usually covered up like your torso.

Sounds like either a pre-existing condition, hormones or just your normal skin tone. Not sure what age you are or if you are taking any type of birth control pills. But the biggest reason women start to get the blotchy skin or brown spots if after starting birth control pills. We are seeing it really badly with women that are using the Nuvo Ring.

There are other possibilities as well but it really does not sound sun or UV related.
