Re: Hydration Station?
First....thanks Eileen...I appreciated your detailed answer & you sharing everything you did with me!
Second, oreoruby....thank you for your input & sharing your experiences also.
The whole problem I'm having with the boss is that he takes what the trainer says as gospel. Whatever she says, he believes we need to do...and we all know, you need to experiement with things to find what works best. (For instance, I don't know anyone who uses every single product in one particular haircare line. You may use Rusk shampoo and Biolage hairspray...just because they sell an entire line, doesn't mean it's going to work well for everyone....[rarely it does]). I was unable to attend the training class she gave due to another committment...and have continuously requested to speak to her. (Why I can't do this on my own, I have no idea??) My reasoning is this: I feel strongly that I am right, and IF I am wrong, I want the educator to tell me WHY. I feel I could ask questions and be better informed, instead of just being "told" this is how to sell it. kwim??
The other "issue" I'm having is this: After the 3rd or 4th tan, he wants us to put them in HS. AFTER that 1st HS treatment, any additional HS treatment the client does, (even if it's BEFORE UV exposure), he wants us to do the 'protect' program! I KNOW that isn't right....why would you use that program if someone was preparing for UV exposure???
I pointed out to the mgr. yesterday that the employee training manual says this:
For Prepare program: Step 1: Apply accelerator. (etc...)
For Protect program: Step 1: Apply moisturizer. (etc...) Now, why would you do that if you are preparing to tan??? Mgr. said good point and she'd put my request in to the boss (haveta follow the chain of command ya know. )
So...I'm still waiting to speak to the trainer....hopefully soon. I usually open 3 days a week and work by myself, so I will sell the HS how I feel most beneficial while he isn't around. If clients see results, they will believe in it and purchase it again..... Matter of fact, there was a client who started tanning a bit late for her cruise later this week and was complaining she didn't see color. (I thought she was looking great!) I told her to use her HS session and ugrade to higher bed. She bought a sample of a different lotion I wanted her to try too. Well, she did HS and then tanned. She came out when she was finished, looked at me and said, "Wow! Can I see color!" She was sold! So...that to me is proof MY way is working and not the boss's way.....
Oh...and another quick "check to be sure I'm right"....
On Saturday, one of the younger staff accidentally set the wrong time and a young girl burned. Oddly enuf, her Mom wasn't flipping out and all they wanted was a week of free tanning (because she wouldn't be coming in that week). I was shocked that was all she wanted, and accommodating her isn't a problem. HOWEVER, when the mgr. took this info to the boss, you know what he said? "Ya shoulda put her in the HS." WHAT?!?!?! Oh yeah...radiant heat and steam is just what a burn vicitm needs! Unbelieveable..... I'm beginning to think he really doesn't have a clue?!
Anyway....thanks for all your help and listening to my idiotic ramblings .... I'm happy to know there is a place I can ask info and check out my "hunches" I wish there was internet and talk forums back in the days I had my own salon....things would have gone so much easier.....
Thanks again everyone....
