With the Air you can boot holding down the 'option' key, this lets you boot from another drive or computer. You can restore right from Time Capsule once booted. I would probably buy one super drive to boot the OS from though. Network booting is not exactly fast.
I just erased the Air when I got it (to remove all those print drivers, languages) and the install took HOURS. But I am on a g network, not n.
As for CPU speed. I know its marketing and such and I know these are Core 2 Duos. But my Titanium powerbook was 1.2Ghz, the Air is only 400MHz per core faster but the feel of the speed is very fast.
Parallels will not run on an Air right now without crashing. I guess that will be fixed shortly.
