Tanamerica uses magnetic ballast. The Puretan uses choke ballasts, even though the lamps use the rdc connectors. You can't use choke lamps in a magnetic ballasts bed. They won't operate correctly and may not last as long. The Puretan lamps were made
by Light Source and I have never heard anyone complain about their lamps. They may be discounting them because Puretan is out of business and they are trying to get rid of them. Light Source makes a very good lamp.
