Money and blood don't mix. I live by that. It's very hard when you have family in the business mix. This is just the tip of the ice berg. I would be very cautious going forward from here. If there is a discrepancy over $ that will be the ultimate demise.
My Uncle owned a TV store in Jersey with his father and brothers...lets just say he hasn't talked to the majority of them in over 20 years because of the stress of the business. I know this is worse case scenario; however, I do not want what had happened to my uncle's family happen to anyone else.
Remember, if this family member really screws up...you can terminate this family member, but you will see them again at Thanksgiving and Christmas, which will make the holidays fun. If you hire employees that are not relatives you will never have to see them again. I would re-think about it....
