Not saying its a good or bad idea, you just may want to check you demographics. I for one never have and never will tanning in anything that provides other services unless its a spa-like environ.
If its a really small town people have less choice so it may work well. If the population is 40k+ then it can go either way. 60k+ and you may have people like me! :) lol
I think the best "solution" I have seen is when the two businesses appear to operate separately. Same building but a clear divide between the two services. And one chair wont cut it, plan to rent out several chairs (three at least) for at least $500 a month. If you can, separate entrances for each but the foyer itself could be one - yes sounds odd, but I have seen it and it works well. And dont plan on having the salon staff provide cleaning services for the hair salon and vice versa, but I would certainly use the tanning salon software to book the services for the hair salon and even the tanning staff responsible for doing so.
Does that sorta make sense? Lets put it this way, I have seen laundry mats and tanning salon combos.... thats just not right. ewwwww
