With the new EU regulations the power has to be lower.
That has nothing whatsoever to do with 5.0 meter readings.... which are primarily UVA. The new EU beds have more UVA and less UVB.

The EU 0.30 W/mē max dose rate "rule" has everything to do with 7.0 meter readings... Ery weighted irradiance. Except it takes the stupid MED definition confusion out of the equation. A MED in USA vs EU vs AU is a completely different dose... all for the same skin type 2. Don't get me started on that.

Solartech had to "invent" yet another meter model (7.5) just for the EU regulation. It measures W/mē Eeff (Ery) directly: no conversions from MED or UVI needed. They are starting to sell like hotcakes over there now. Will be on www.solarmeter.com website by end of this week... and are in our new Nov IST ad fyi.

We just love confusing people with so many different kinds of UV meters. Too bad UV isn't simple... too many bandwidths all producing different biological effects. Aaaarrrrrgh. It takes an eggplant to understand it all lol. Fortunately the new 7.5 meter is NOT needed here in the USA..... yet.
