Re: Landlord troubles

"The landlord won't discuss rent breaks, advertising, marketing or even entertain the notion of having events that will draw people to the center. They seem content to watch everyone go out of business. We are in the process of forming a tenet association but even then we won't have much in the leverage.

They won't allow sidewalk sales, tent sales, car shows, boat shows, outdoor concerts, blood drives or anything else that we can think of."

What do you mean they won't let you do these things? If anything THE TOWN would be the problem with that. They won't let you promote or they won't foot the bill for it?

Ok, here's what I think.

If you are trying to promote and the landlord is shutting you down then that's a confilct of interest IMO. There should be something in your lease that says YOU ARE LIMITED TO THIS FORM OF ADVERTISING ON THE PREMESIS.

ALSO, if they are trying to SELL THE PLACE, they maybe looking to empty the building.

Real strange situation.
