Question Existing Employees

Ok – NO, I haven’t made a decision on purchasing either salons I was looking at. I have a general question though while looking at existing businesses.

What do you do with the current employees if you don’t want to keep them all? This is hard! For example:

At the one salon there are 5 employees:

Employee #1 works every weds night (she has been there for over 10 years) and is a school teacher during the day. She makes $14/hr!!!! The only thing I like is she KNOWS the business…

Employee #2 works most days mon-fri (has been there about 6 years) she makes $11/hr! But again, KNOWS the salon…

Employee #3 was hired recently and is now sharing some days with Emp #2 – making about $7/hr – she will prob be easy to get rid of b/c she is new and doesn’t work a lot of hours and I am sure #2 wants some hours back.

Employee #4 works everynight, but weds and wants the weekends too. She is newer, makes $7/hr (I think) and is a very nice person. I don’t think I would want to cut her b/c she works a lot and that takes care of a lot of shifts.

Employee #5 works like 1 day a week to cover a shift. Easy cut…

What do you think? For any business this is a hard question. What would you do…

(NO TALKING ABOUT DON’T BUY THE SALON – THIS WOULD BE FOR ANY BUSINESS I WOULD CONSIDER BUYING)
