Short & Sweet "Sun Exposure Linked to Vitamin D"

Linked to Vitamin D
August 8th, 2007 @ 8:48am

Tom Callan, KSL Newsradio
You want your kids to get A's and B's in school. But don't forget the D's.
Low on vitamin D, sunlight, for 5-year-old Max. So the doctor ordered this prescription for Tanya Turek's son.
"The doctor said [we] need to have him out in the sun 10 minutes every day without sunscreen," says Turek, "and that will bring up his vitamin D."
But what about sunburn?
"It's a fine line. Who knows?" says Turek. "So we'll try it." Max faced two other choices: Some multi-vitamin, or downing a half-gallon of milk a day. No wonder he's taking the extra rays.
