The Elephant In The Living Room Is Still Being Ignored
Useful article detailing the obvious fact that if the dermatologists were right and all we needed was 15mins outdoor exposure twice weekly we would all be vitamin d replete.
The fact is (and it's about the same in the USA/CANADA that
in the UK most adults are vitamin D insufficient MOST of the time. If the medics and dermatologists had got the RDA Vitamin D3 correct or their recommendations for adequate sun exposure were realistic then we would NOT be in the position of having 60% of the population being below 75nmol/L throughout the Summer.
As Eileen keeps pointing out we need a status of over 100nmol/L for all systems that need Vitamin D to work properly and a level of over 125nmol/L to protect from cancer.
If we used 125 as the base level then it would be hard to find anyone in the UK with optimal Vitamin d status.
