Nope it doesn't make them blotchy but wait until after they are dry. I do it right after I blow dry them and I sprinkle it and them run a blow dryer to blow it off. I don't think you'd want to use a brush though. I could be wrong. Maybe others would know better than me but I'm just telling what I do and works out well for me. From what I hear, some dont even blow dry their customers so I'm sure everyone has their own way of doing it.
