Re: What is The Youngest Age A Salon Can allow A person On The Sunbeds????......

MARCA! I'm shocked at that statement. I never thought you would compare tanning with alcohol and cigarettes!

We are forbidden by law from telling our customers that there are positive benefits to tanning, but I would have thought that we, as salon owners, would be convinced that there are benefits.

If it is a bad thing, don't tan anyone. If it is a good thing, why would you exclude children?

When I was I child, I was plagued with allergies. I tested to be allergic to beef, pork, eggs, sugar, milk, grass, house dust, etc. I was basically allergic to almost everything they tested me on. The doctor's recommendation was for my mother to make me play outside more without a shirt on. The reasoning was that the sun would help "clear up" my allergies.

Guess what... It WORKED! I got better. I still have problems with pollen and house dust, but much less than when my eyes would swell shut when I was a kid.

BTW, I am talking about the mid to late 60's. All this "New" research that you are seeing on the benefits of vitamin D and sun exposure were just considered common knowledge back then. That was before the derms started on their rampage against the sun.

Marca, I am not picking on you, but that statement really shocked me. Are you sure that is the way you feel?
