Re: Matrix L33 Relamp kit

Your failure to answer my question - Are you installing the ISO retrofit kit? - leads me to believe that you are installing it.

"Why do you ask?" you ask. Because if you are installing the ISO retrofit kit, you should disclose that fact so that the readers will understand your bias.

"Go ahead and give me your shpiel Don about FDA this and Manufacturer that."

No, it is YOUR responsibility (assuming that you are installing the ISO retrofit kit) to inform your clients that having you do so may cause them to (1) become the "manufacturer of record" for the unit; (b) lose the product liability insurance and warranty coverage; and (3) make their salon liability insurance null and void.

"The company that builds this machine provides a retro kit for their unit. The company that distrubuted the US machines also has a kit."

Tan America is the FDA "manufacturer of record" for the 600+ Matrix units that are in the field. The fact that ISO made them for TA has nothing to do with it. If ISO and/or any of their agents cannot "legally" modify any TA Matrix unit. Only Tan America can legally do that.

ISO and/or their agents can legally modify the new "Marster" units, assuming that they are recognized as the FDA "manufacturer of record" for the unit.

They are both compatible with the unit. One is a POS and the other is not.

I have tested the Tan America retrofit kit (it performs very well, thank you!) and I'll bet that neither ISO and/or their agents have tested the ISO retrofit kit. Therefore, it is my opinion that the ISO retrofit kits being installed "violate" FDA regulations and put the salon owner in a position where they can be badly hurt and THAT is why I am "speaking out" about this issue.

The fact that Brian does "good work" is not the issue; rather, the issue is whether ISO and/or any and all of the agents who are installing the ISO retrofit are properly informing their clients about the risks involved.

My guess is that somewhere down the line there will be a legal action that will cause a lot of people to wish that they have paid attention to my warnings.

Caveat Emptor!
