Re: Sunless Airbrush Systems
I have probably done upwards of 500 applications. I have had techs using it as well. Combined we have probably done close to 1000. I get busy before beauty pageants, proms, etc. I had to replace the sprayer once because one of my techs stripped the threads on one of the internal parts when she cleaned it. Rather than just buying another gun, I just bought a whole other unit.
I have never used another HVLP unit to apply spray tan. I have used other units for woodwork finishing.
If you aren't sure you would like it, do what I did. Go get one and play with it. Get your wife or girlfriend (preferably not at the same time) or kids or neighbors or employees to let you practice on them until you get comfortable. If you don't like the unit, clean it up, box it up and take it back. Lowe's will refund your huge $125 investment.
Another thing that I like about it is that it does get warm. The spray is really cold when being applied. If you look at the hose going to the gun, it looks like a vacuum cleaner hose. When done with the application, I disconnect it from the gun and use it in place of a hair dryer. The air is comfortably warm, but not hot enough to worry about sweating. After air drying, I use a little baby powder under the arms and behind the knees to keep them from feeling sticky. I leave it out and tell them they are welcome to put it any where else they would like.
