What recommended tanning time are you referring to? The one the manufactuer sticks on the beds? I don't know about your beds but ours start out at 3 minutes then go up to 10 minutes, then 15 and finally 20. My clients wouldn't stand for that. Most of them want to go in right away for 15 or 20. My only guess for why is because no one has edcuated them on the tanning process and they feel that any less minutes would be "wasting their money".
If I were you I'd ask questions to evaluate their skin. Do they ever burn in the sun? How long does it take for them to burn? What color are their eyes and hair? Sometimes that's a big indication.
Just be polite when recommending a shorter time.
