That's good. You could also leave them in. Remove the canopy from it's mounts, remove the mounts/hinges. Pad the bench under a couple of 2 x 4's, pad the 2 x 4's, and then lay the canopy on top. Now, carefully strap it all together. Then secure the entire load in the truck bed. With or without lamps installed.
