Ah okay, that's a different issue. That's called an RS232 connection and needs to be used with a compatible printer. In this case the cash drawer does plug into the printer, if your printer doesn't have this sort of jack you have the wrong one. Typically in this sort of setup, the drawer will be compatible with only one manufacturer of printer (eg: Epson, Star Micronics, etc).
