Are they white spots? Like little areas that don't tan? If so, it may be tinea versicolor, which is basically an overgrowth of the natural yeast that is found on the skin. Everyone has this yeast, but some people's immmune systems can't control it's growth. When it flares up, it prevents the areas from tanning. There are lots of products out there to treat it. You can try something like Wipe Out by Body Drench (your salon should be able to get it for you), or you can see a doctor and get a medication there.
