What they said ^^! If you do decide to tan outdoors, you should always use a broad spectrum sunscreen because, unlike tanning beds, the intensity of UVA & UVB can not be determined or regulated. I suggest starting with a higher SPF and then as your tan develops you can decrease the SPF factor slowly. And don't stay out all day thinking you are protected..you could end up with a horrible burn. Go slow and you will develop a good base tan.
