As a software developer I feel the need to come to Helios defense on this issue. There are times when you institute new technologies that work great in an in-house testing environment but when they hit the real world issues pop up. We integrated the same biometric fingerprint systems into our video POS software for both the employee side and customer side for lookup. The employee side is great but on the customer side, we found after release that when the database grows to a large size that the responce times became terribly long. We had to adjust it to work more like a pin pad, verifying the identity of someone who had already been pulled up in the system rather than as the lookup tool. While I'm sure that they understand the frustration you feel in not being able to use a component that they designed for you, understand that not all circumstances can be tested for in advance and it's sometimes the price you pay for dealing with a company that tries to bring you the newest technology and bring you the best benefits. JMO of course.
