FYI To Ask Don's Army:

Do clients want to make a separate appointment (on another day) to use an expensive "leg tanner" (there is now one on the market and and at least one more that will supposedly be introduced in Nashville) OR DO THEY JUST WANT TAN LEGS?

We just looked at our data for the first two months of using the air brush spray system and were pleasantly surprised to find that 40% of our dollar volume came from spraying legs; 40% came from full body sprays; and 20% came from facial sprays, face and bald head sprays or "strap line" sprays.

The "good news" is that the 60% of our volume comes on the day that they tan since, unlike the leg tanner, there is no prohibition from tanning in a UVR unit to develop PROTECTIVE PIGMENTATION and then spraying their legs or face to get EXACTLY the color they want. Why good news? Because our "revenue per visit" has made a significant jump because our clients are willing to pay to have their legs or face or both sprayed AFTER they have paid to tan.

A very high percentage of the women who either turn off the facial HID/hp lamps or cover their face with a towel will they pay to have their face sprayed.

What it appears to us is that people want tan legs (and/or faces) and they are willing to pay extra to get them "tanned" immediately.

The cost of a leg tanner is $6,000 0 $7,000, the spray booths are $30,000+ and an airbrush system is approximately $1,000 dollars. Since you can charge the same as the "leg tanner" salons are charging and the same as the booths are charging for a full spray, the economics are not hard to figure out! Also, you can't just spray legs and faces with the spray booths and you can't tan the face, bald heads and "fill in" strap lines in the leg units. Therefore, if you are looking for a new source of revenue, take a look at the air brush technology.

Also (as I can attest), there is one more small but important source of revenue - bald but handsome men! Men who are "hair challenged" want their face and "chrome dome" sprayed and are willing to pay extra to have an "even" color on their face and bald head. [Note: In case you ladies and guys with a full head of hair (I hate you!) didn't know, it is VERY hard to tan your bald head without sunburning, especially as you age.]

Some other "new" markets we have found:

1. Students without a tan LOVE being able to tan in a UVR sunbed and then get a full body spray. They get "instant gratification" and can go back to the sorority house or dorm "tanned" and then they can, over the next 5 - 10 sessions, replace the "fake tan" with PROTECTIVE PIGMENTATION.

2. People with roseacea can, finally, get the "tan" that they have always wanted.

3. Business executives (both men and women) who want to be tan but either don't have the time to tan or have been frightened about UVR. [Note: The great thing is that you have the opportunity to "set the record straight" with these clients and "tell them the truth" about PROTECTIVE PIGMENTATION.]

The "bottom line" is that we have more than paid for all four systems in less than two months!
