Exfoliation, like many things in skin care are skin type, gender and age dependant. Normally as we age, the skins natural ability to exfoliate is lessened. Thus, as we age the need to assist in the exfoliation process increases. To answer you question regarding duration and frequency, on the label I think we say 3-4 times weekly. Certainly with a product like this, which is non-drying and truly naturally exfoliating, one can use easily daily, without the ill effects of abrasive exfoliation. Exfoliation depending on skin type is really not needed completely on a daily basis, remember the simple act of washing the face can be considered exfoliation, as well as shaving.

Most people from what we learned talking with them, have a heard time imagining how you can “exfoliate” daily… Most people when they think of exfoliation immediately think of abrasive exfoliation. Daily facial exfoliation with a salt or walnut scrub and your skin will fall off.. (Not really but it will be really red, raw, tender and could potential lead to a thicker horny layer)

Amy who is a skin type 2a, tendency since she was a kid for occasional breakouts, uses the product daily, mostly in the evenings, and uses it after the foaming facial cleanser. (She has the distinct advantage of getting the products while they are still in stability, so she has been using now for about 5 months) Still having very young skin, she allows the product to remain on the skin for about 30-45 seconds. Remember Bromelian, is most effect on dead cells, so in testing, we left the product on for up to 15 minutes almost like a mask, some surface tingle was noticed but overall, once it was rinsed with water, there were no noticeable adverse effects.
