160 watt lamps will perform at up to 200 watts with decreased life but 200 watt lamps driven at less than 200 watts will not perform well. The gas used in the 200 watt lamp is different than the gas used in the 160 watt lamp. There is a difference. And don't think you can run 100 watt lamps at higher wattages because the filament is constructed differently and the lamp will fail in about 50 hours. 160 watt and 200 watt filaments protrude further into the lamp tube to provide a cooling zone at the end of the lamp to keep the filament from burning out.
