At the end of March, when Tony invited me to Indy to review V10 and to discuss future enhancements to Helios - he assured me that V10 will be a WAN (Wide Area Networkable) product.
I was working with V10 on a Single Workstation that was not Networked or connected to the Internet. I can not (from what I saw) confirm or deny that it will be WAN ready, except that Tony assured me that it would be.
I questioned Tony regarding not seeing any additional settings etc that would be used to set Database locations, mapping or paths related to WAN setup. He advised that a new special Dongle for the WAN option would activate that, and he also advised that those special WAN dongles were going to be produced shortly.
The Helios Reports did not appear to provide any additional options for reporting by location or group of locations, but again this may become visible with the special WAN dongle.
I asked Tony about the cost of the WAN options or version of Helios. He advised that the pricing had not been set as yet, but that there would be a fee for the WAN product.
Another alternative that you can consider and review is the SolarSoft's SalonNet product. SalonNet is available now and has been working successfully in a good number of locations for sometime. SalonNet provides a Batch oriented approach (not dependant on a Central Server for each location to operate) to synchronizing the data at your locations and provides a Web Based Reporting Suite against the Helios Database at each location and the central consolidated SalonNet SQL Database for all locations. This reporting can be done from any Internet connection in the world and also Palm7 Wireless options are available.
Take a look at the SolarSoft website and the SolarSoft Reporting Suite information.
In addition to the Helios Training and Services that I provide, I also assist SolarSoft with the Marketing of their SalonNet products.
Please give me a call if you would like more information on either and I would be pleased to discuss with you, the investment related to my services.
