Well, towels are important...but, so far, I think I'm the worst...Ihave a salon policy / procedure book...everything from listed holidays, sick day, shift changes, test bed forms for doccumentation to ensure tanning time is not given away. Sales goals...must meet 90% to get tanning time for the next month....and smoking forget it...I dont allow smoke breaks....nothing cheesier than seeing the "tanning chick" hanging out the front door of the salon, holding the portable phone and smoking ! I dont put up with it....if they are on a break go smoke in a restaruant somewhere away from my businesss....boyfriends etc cant visit during their shifts...I'm paying them to work not socialize....and no cell phones or pagers allowed in my salons...they can coordinate their dates and chatt time off of my clock....they are on the shift to sell lotion and take care of customer needs....All abide by the rules or they can go somewhere else....this is a tanning is a business and if you treat it as a hang out for kids and Mangers alike then, that's what your cusotmer see. I want it professional...customers first....and I have the policies so employees / Managers know what to expect....I give the paychecks and they do their part in upholding the salon to the highest standards....yep...I'm a ticky person....but, it payes off ! I get compliments on my employees all the time..I give extra tanning time, lotions to employees and some paid 3 day weekends...hey, you get what to demand, and rewards and recognition keep the employees with me long term....plus, being direct...there is no miss communication....they sign-off on the policy manual at the beginging of training ! One thing they say...is that "I'm direct, but fair" ...guess that's not so bad. Deb
