It sounds like you have something that is grabbing the printer port for a while. Since running Helios twice, I'd begin there. Make sure you are not running anything that uses the printer port (where the dongle is) in your startup folder.

Someone else can correct me, but I do not believe you need to be running the dongle server with Helios 9.4 (I'm not very familiar with 9.4, we do not use it here). If your running the CB server, try stopping it before you run Helios that first time and see if that could be your problem.

You could also check for hardware conflicts on your parallel port, or it could be the mode the port is in (normal/ECC/ECP). When you get down that far, try swinging the dead chiken in the other direction that could fix it too
